My favourite nightmare

(apocalyptic vision)

I'll describe you one of my favourite nightmares. I call it nightmare just because there's no other word for dream-that-frightens. However, I love it... Then you awaken with bitter taste of horror, your eyes are openwide, and suddenly with the morning sun comes relief and understanding that it's just a dream - it's wonderful, isn't it? If it offends you - just do not read.

...There is no sun. Sky is like a liquid lead. Somewhere there is a fire - I don't see it, but there are crimson glints on the clouds. It's warm, but not like in a desert - though there's no vegetation or water the humidity of air is more than normal. I'm sitting in the deep pit. It's large, really large, and its edges are easy enough to climb (nearly walkable), so I can get out whenever I want to. I'm reading a book. I don't know what it is about, but it's very important for me to read it. Suddenly I feel like looking through someone's eyes. I think it's a falcon. I see myself in the pit, I see barren and scorched plains around it. Something's wrong. I notice, that there are four fuming cauldrons at the pit's edges. While I'm trying to... I don't know, to do something, they are simultaneously inclined by something invisible and start to pour their content in the pit. Now I know (dunno how - it's a nightmare) that they're pouring blood. I'm again in the pit. There's no escape: I do not even try to run, because it's ridiculous - to run from your own fate. All that I can do is to continue reading in a desperate attempt to finish book before everything is over. Blood slowly comes to my feet, ankles, knees... It's funny feeling, because it's warm and comfy. I think that I'm even able to swim in it, but something is telling me, that it's forbidden. Cauldrons seem to be endless, so I'm reading, reading, reading. The last chapter, several pages to go, the last one... I hold the book above my head, blood is coming to cover my nose. I take a deep breath, there are two paragraphs left... Blood comes over my eyes. I'm blinded and I know that I've just failed. I know, that there's nothing ahead. Emptiness is filling me and I try to scream, but there's no sound. Fear quickly arises to unbearable level, I fell blood coming to my lungs...

And then comes awakening. I don't know, why I wrote it down now. It's just a dream, may be unusual, but dream.
